Shit Everyone Says

Ok- here they all are. I know that we’re all done. And the last two are not very good. But I thought I would put them all in one spot- showing how quickly a YouTube idea can be replicated and dragged out until we are sick of the original!

White Collar Poet: Vancouver mockmentary webseries releases August 2011

____________________________________

White Collar Poet is a new comedy web series that uses a mockumentary style to tell the story of neurotic insurance broker Richard Scribe who leaves behind his office duties to perform poetry on the streets of Vancouver’s financial district.

The prolific and talented veteran Vancouver actor, David Lewis (Harper’s Island, The L-Word) deftly plays the successful insurance broker turned aspiring poet as he attempts to bring art into the business world while his personal and business lives spiral out of control.

Episode One, Epiphany, premieres August 29th 2011 on whitecollarpoet.com with new episodes to follow bi-weekly.  The website currently features several teaser videos in addition to select poems by lead character Richard Scribe and gives audiences the opportunity to interact with Rich online through Facebook and Twitter. You can even request a personalized, custom poem from the dynamic series lead himself.

While episode one features David Lewis exclusively, the series lead is joined in the remaining 7 episodes by an impressive roster of Vancouver talent including Daniel Bacon, Viv Leacock, Christine Chatelain, Ben Cotton, John Shaw and Agam Darshi among others.

Richard will be attending the Calabash Bistro on TuesdayAugust 23rd for a short poetry reading. For more details on this event go to their Facebook event page.

White Collar Poet was produced on a zero budget by two up and coming Vancouver production companies, the 2009 Crazy-8s participant Mostly Harmless Productions and MPPIA Short Film Award winning Awkward Moment Productions.

Restaurant Chains Cost Too Much

I’ve been away for awhile and haven’t posted anything. I apologize.

Recently I was listening to the Jeff O’Neil show on 99.3 the Fox, as I sometimes do in the shower. Jeff was talking about his recent visit to the Keg and how bad the service and food was. He went on to talk about these restaurant chains that are overpriced and the food being sub par.

Not being a red meat-eater, I cannot speak for the Keg and usually don’t frequent chains such as Cactus Club, Moxies or Earl’s just based on the simple fact that I would much rather try a local Vancouver restaurant. We have so many choices and new places to try, why wouldn’t I?

Yesterday was an exception and I found myself sitting at the Cactus Club on Broadway and Granville Street. Since I’m on a healthy ‘eating in’ kick at the moment, I wasn’t there to eat but to just catch up with a friend. She ordered the fish tacos. They came: two tacos and a measly side of guacamole and salsa.

The hilarious part was the in amidst the food were 6 corn tortilla chips. This meal was $15. So when the friendly waitress came around I asked her for more chips for my friend.

She was great and brought back a small bowl with maybe 8 chips. ( You can count from the above picture. The waitress was lovely and the tacos, my friend said, were good. But even the tiny amount of guacamole and salsa wouldn’t cover the chip ratio for basic scooping purposes.

If you are going to have these chains around, provide great atmosphere- nice outside decks and from my experience, nice waiters etc.. why the hell can’t the food not be presented in stingy proportions? If you’re going to be stingy than match it with a stingy low price. DUH. We could have gone to Rangoli’s up the street and had amazing food for a lower cost. Something is wrong here.

Vancouver- July 17th 2011 Back to it’s Beautiful Self.

I took a gander downtown to see if there was any needed help and found that the amazing people from yesterday’s clean-up crew had done the job. Everything was back to normal. The only sign of any disturbance was the boarded up windows. London Drugs was back to normal- people were shopping. It was a beautiful day so I decided to snap up the positive lovely Vancouver a couple days after an upsetting display of the ugly side of humans.

But, I’ve decided to just get over it. As much as I was angry and upset, the best thing for me is to see the good it did, it got me to appreciate my city and the good compassion of the people that live here.
